What is the difference between 8K TV and 4K TV?

  • by

The 8K TV you see should have a resolution of 7680 × 4320 8K UHD TV.

What’s the meaning of this picture: the resolution of HDTV at home is 1920 × 1080。

We usually say a few K. in fact, it was originally called by the film industry. K refers to kilo, which means the number of horizontal pixels is several thousand.

2K is bigger than HD, which means that the number of horizontal pixels of the picture exceeds 2000, such as 2048.

Why do we have to call it 2K? Just to pretend?

Not all of them.

Because the standard aspect ratio of TV is 4:3 and 16:9, while movies have many different aspect ratios, such as 1.43:1 (IMAX), 2.2:1 (70mm), 2.35:1 (Cinemascope) and so on.

Therefore, different from HD, according to the number of horizontal pixels, it is called 2K for short.

So what’s the difference between HD and 1080p?

At first, the pictures on the electronic screen were scanned by lines.

1080p, refers to the picture vertical, there are 1080 scan lines, and each refresh, scan each line( Interlaced scan (1080i)

Therefore, 2K 1080p is 130000 pixels more than HD.

The difference between 8K TV and 4K TV

4K TV means that the number of horizontal pixels exceeds 4000, for example, 4096.

For resolution 3840 × Although the 2160 TV does not meet this standard and its resolution is four times that of HD, it is called “Ultra HD”. Some TV manufacturers also mark it as 4K, so they call it 4K Ultra HD, 4K UHD TV.

As early as three or five years ago, Sony, sharp, Samsung and many other manufacturers successively launched the 7680 × 4320.

Strictly speaking, this is not a real 8K TV, it should be called 8K UHD TV.

HDTV has 2.07 million pixels per frame. 4K UHD is 8.29 megapixels per frame, while 8K UHD is 33.17 megapixels. In other words, the resolution is 4 times that of 4K UHD TV and 16 times that of HD TV.

Is 8K UHD TV better than 4K UHD TV?

not always. Of course, all manufacturers will publicize in this way, but from the perspective of consumers, it involves three aspects.

· broadcasting source: at present, China has just popularized HD signal, but 4K UHD TV signal is far from popular, Blu ray players are also a few, and online video is mainly SD and HD *. In Japan, NHK started broadcasting all 8K this year, and plans to realize live broadcasting of all 8K by 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games;

Screen size: the smaller the screen size is, the lower the requirement for picture quality is. At the IFA exhibition, Samsung’s first consumer grade 8K UHD TV, which is 85 inches in size, is basically a wall;

Distance: the screen is too small to see the effect. I can’t stand sitting too close to such a large screen. Let’s sit a little farther and have a look at our house. Is it that big?

So, if you want to buy an 8K TV, consider your own needs and conditions.

Ultra high definition TV (uhdtv) is the highest technical standard of digital TV video system released by ITU in August 2012, including 4K and 8K system standards. 8K UHD TV with 7680 × 4320 resolution, HDR high dynamic range, bt.2020 standard gamut range, 12bit quantization depth, 120fps frequency and 22.2 channel surround sound technology have made a great leap in audio-visual presentation ability compared with ordinary HDTV, and the picture clarity, realism and expressiveness have been greatly improved, becoming the highest standard of current TV industry technology.
